Metropolitan Ivy is led by an Ivy League graduate and licensed teacher with a team of tutors who are experts in their fields: PhDs and experienced science tutors. Our educators are caring communicators in addition to being highly trained in their disciplines.

Võ Tiến Phong, PhD
With undergraduate and graduate degrees from UPenn, MIT, and the University of Manchester, Phong is a dedicated instructor of physics and mathematics with extensive experience working with diverse groups of students. His approach focuses on equipping students with a firm conceptual understanding of overarching themes and a high proficiency in technical problem solving. Phong has been an instructor at the Experimental Study Group and Educational Studies Program at MIT.

Dr. Maher Hadaya
Dr. Hadaya is a dual-degree MD graduate and final year PhD candidate with over 15 years of tutoring experience and a lifelong passion for education. He graduated from medical school in 2025 and is in the final year of his PhD in Environmental Engineering at Drexel University. Having received tutoring for most of his childhood, he feels that it is one of the most empowering gifts a parent can give their child. Maher breaks down very difficult concepts into easy-to-understand terms, and seeing the lightbulb go off in students’ minds is what keeps him excited to tutor.

Frank Ciulla, MA
Frank has been an instructor at Columbia University, Regis High School, Collegiate School, and NYU, and has over 30 years of experience teaching math and science. He holds a BA in chemistry from Oberlin and a Master’s degree in molecular Biology from Columbia University. He has conducted research projects at Harvard University and Columbia University. Frank brings his teaching expertise to students in a wide range of subjects, including:
